Fishing Trip To Pulau Pelumpong

Yesterday we went for a fishing trip to the fish cage breeding gound at Pulau Pelumpong in the Brunei Bay area. There were thirteen of us. We met at exactly 5 pm at the boat landing area near the Muara Port. At about 5.20 pm we started out journey by boat accompanied by the brother of the owner of the fish cage, Lt. Col. (R) Hj.Kamaludin. The weather was fine and the water was calm..much to our relief!

Wow, looks like fun! Are you catching fish swimming around the pens? are the pens in the bay or further out? We have nothing like this in Massachusetts. Here everything is frozen and I live vicariously through fishing shows, blogs, and anticipation. I am trying to find a good, detailed map of Brunei. So far I can only find the most basic of geography. From what I can read your nation is beautiful and warm! It's 28F. here now, by tonight it will be 19F., and the wind will make it feel like 5F.! Summer in my state is around 85F. average, but drier than Brunei.
Kaki, can you direct me to a good map, showing me where Palau Pelumpong is? I can see the bay, but little else on the maps I can find.
Thanks, Mike.

mkz,
yes we are really having fun except that the bad weather during the night spoilt our excitement..and yes we are only allowed to catch fish around the cages only.
Actually the pens are located on the far west tip of Brunei or Muara (as you can see from this map http://www.welt-atlas.de/worldatlas/database/map.php?reg=&kat=&kartenid=6-661) and sorry this is the only map that I can find online maybe you can try looking in the actual world atlas...
mkz, Pulau Pelumpong is in between that tip and Pulau Muara Besar and that is where the fish cages are located..

Thank you Kaki, this was a good deal better than the maps I was able to find. Funny with all the internet, I may have to go to a paper atlas! I can tell where you were fishing now. Do you live in this area also?

This is very helpful. I live about 1.5 hours from the ocean in Massachusetts. Cape Cod and Long Island Sound are some of the best Striped bass waters on the east coast, these fish are excellent food, and can get up to 60lbs., though I have never fished for them, because I spend so much time fishing for Largemouth bass in fresh water which is closer to my home and in great abundance. My church is getting ready to book our deep sea trip for Cod, Cusk, Haddock, and Hake. We are looking to go in May. I will definitely do a post on it.
